Rec Team

Current Information

We are currently accepting people for our 2015-2016 season.  The fee is $80 for a 12-week session, or $270 for the year, in addition to a $30 membership fee.

We have now competed with the NAIGC for five years, attending NAIGC Nationals 2011 in Richmond, VA, 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT, 2013 in Minneapolis, MN, 2014 in Chattanooga TN, and 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.  We are looking forward to another exciting season with the NAIGC, with 2016 in Sacramento, CA April 14-17 at the Sacramento Convention Center.  The cost is typically about $125/person (in addition to flights and hotel), and the deadline to register is March 1st, so stand by as more information comes out about this year's competition season.

The Recreational Competitive Team is another facet of the Cambridge Community Gymnastics community. The Rec Team works out together once per week, on Saturday mornings from 11a - 12:30p in a closed practice.  This is our opportunity to choreograph and work on routines, plan events and activities (like MEETS!), and help build cohesiveness as a team.

Ultimately, it's all for the FUN of the sport! Everyone from beginners who have never been to a gymnastics meet to former Level 10 gymnasts competing in All-Around are welcome.  And you only have to compete the events you want to - no forced AA or even forced competition. Many of our members attend competitions to cheer on their teammates even if they elect not to compete, but no one will make you compete if you don't want to.

[NOTE: If you are first-time beginner, this is NOT the place to come to learn gymnastics, and you should start in the Beginner Class.  Once you've picked up some of the basics, are interested in joining a team atmosphere, and are approved for Open Gym, ask about Rec Team!]

We ask that anyone who would like to participate in Rec Team be over the age of 21 and have a genuine interest in the sport. Our team is peer-coached, so being able to work within that kind of environment is essential to join the team. If you are interested in Rec Team, speak with your class instructor and she'll direct you to a team member! There's always some of us in the gym!

This team is both AAU Club and an NAIGC Alumni Club

  • The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. More information is available at The Real AAU Gymnastics webpage.

  • The National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) is the league of college gymnastics clubs in the U.S. The purpose of the NAIGC is to expand opportunities for participation in the sport of gymnastics and to promote interaction among collegiate gymnastics clubs by providing structure for competition on local, regional, and national levels; facilitating communication; and building a community of support and camaraderie that encourages sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun.

Please see our Rates & Fees page for information on the cost of joining.
